Great gift for kids

Tazeen Fatima
Seeds of Akhlaq

For a child growing up in the present world, what do we sow to reap the reward of being a parent who has done justice to the Amanah from Allah if we sincerely believe that our children are His Amanah in our safe keeping. Some may say, decorate their rooms with themes, feed them organic foods, cook delicious meals for them that they may sing your praise all their lives, sent them to Private schools, shower them with toys and gifts, pamper them that they may grow with confidence of being brought up in wealth. I would say, be moderate in what you give them of material world but be generous in Hidayah. What better could be a gift but to root them in values by telling them a story that ends with narration of a hadith. I bought this book with this intention. The book is serving its purpose. No book written by a mankind is expected to be complete and perfect in its message. So, this book has its own short comings. Sometimes the title or the story may not convey the message intended in the hadith but the writer has made her best efforts to make the meaning of hadiths accessible to a child's psyche in a manner best comprehensible to her own mind. Children grasp way more than we presume. Despite finding a miss here and there in the narration of stories, I would still recommend it to young parents who wish to introduce children to Islamic values early in their lives.

Really good collection...my son loves to read this books.

Needs proofreading

I have bought many books published by Goodword over the years and always found them to be reliable and enjoyable to read. However, this book has been a disappointment. A few of the short stories were rather bizarre such as the one about circumcision. The part that bugs me the most about this book was the fact that for story number 40, they gave the subheading “Allah is Everywhere” when talking about the hadith “Be mindful of Allah and you will find him in front of you. (Tirmidhi)”. Besides having absolutely nothing to do with the hadith, this subheading is theologically incorrect.

Perhaps this book had been translated from the Turkish language and the translators did not do the book justice. In which case the publisher should have proofread the book before selling it to the masses.

For reference here’s full hadith taken from Sunan At Tirmidhi:

Ibn Abbas reported: I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, when he said to me, “Young man, I will teach you some words. Be mindful of Allah and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you will find Him before you. If you ask, ask from Allah. If you seek help, seek help from Allah. Know that if the nations gathered together to benefit you, they could not benefit you unless Allah has decreed it for you. And if the nations gathered together to harm you, they could not harm you unless Allah has decreed it for you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried.”
